Patrick and I are very grateful for all the help we received in completing out first half marathon!

Special thanks goes to Athletes Serving Athletes who loaned us the chair!!!  My family and friends who came to support us. It was breathtaking the support we received. :-)

Patrick and I are very grateful for all the help we received in completing out first half marathon!

For those of you who don't know Patrick and I are twin brother born on July 24th 1982.  When Patrick was born his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck which cut his oxygen supply off to his brain. That resulted in him having Cerebral Palsy. His legs where operated on when he was six, so he can walk but not extreme distances. Patrick can't talk, but he know whats going on in the world.  My brother means the world to me!

A few years ago I was watching ESPN and noticed Team Hoyt competing the Hawaii Iron Man.  I told my self that Patrick and I need to do that.  I had completed two triathlons before watching the video clip, but twenty months ago I got serious about doing triathlons and have finished eighteen total, which included a hand full of sprint and olympic distance along with two half iron men.  I am going for my third on November 12th!

It took me three years to get to the Chestertown Half marathon, but we did it!  I am in the planning process of having a fundraiser so we can purchase our own custom push chair racer. As you can see Pats legs are to long for the chair, but the cost of the custom push racer is $3,200. I envision my self starting a non-profit once I graduate George Mason University, but until them I am trying to think of ways to raise money to buy a chair so we can get out and enjoy the world.  Just because someone is so called "disabled" doesn't mean they need to be bound to a house.  Patrick is very smart and understand a lot.

I am not sure when our next fun run will be, but I am considering the Nations triathlon since we live in the Washington DC area!  Also, depends when we get a chair.
